Destruction of Nature as dangerous as climate change,Scientists warned.
Key points
- Biodiversity loss a serious issue.
- Facts and figures about biodiversity.
- UN-report.
- Amazon rainforest decreasing day by day.
- Conversion of forest to cropland and wetlands.
- Worldwide biggest threat to nature.
- Time to take some action for policy makers.
- Our responsibility as individual.
Summary
According to the
UN-backed report the worlds capacity to provide food, water and security to
billions of people is in threat because of the human destruction of nature.
People must act to halt and reverse the unsustainable use of nature. Worldwide,
the biggest threat to nature are from habitat loss, invasive species and
chemical and climate change. The conversion of forests to croplands and
wetlands has increased since the 1960s, but at a devastating cost to other
species. Therefore, it is time for the policy makers to act at all levels.

Personal reflection
Personal
reflection
In my opinion, biodiversity loss should be considered on the same
scale as those of climate change. The world has loss hectares of rainforest and
we lose dozens of species every day. Due to this, we are destroying our
ecological system that is the foundation for our life and the future
generations on this Earth. There is a close connection between climate change
and biodiversity loss, which are adversely affecting each other. Therefore, there is need to make some fundamental changes in how we
live as individuals on our planet.
